At the annual Tenney Family Association business meeting in 2006 it was
decided to have a Special Project each year. The TFA would match $ for $ all
contributions to that year’s Special Project up to a maximum of $500. This meant
that members could “double the value” of their donations to the project selected
for the year.
The first Special Project selected by the membership was the restoration
of the James & Thankful Shippee Tenney Cabin in Tallmansville, West Virginia. A
total of $515 was received during the 2006-07 fiscal year. With the $500 match
from the TFA the cabin came $1,015 closer to its restoration.
(The cabin has received a new roof and work was to begin on the stonework
for a new chimney when I saw it at the West Virginia Annual Tenney Reunion in
September, 2007.)
Members attending the 2007 annual TFA business meeting chose the Bradford
Cemetery Cleanup as the coming year’s Special Project. It was reported that the
main part of the cemetery has been cleaned up, but not the area in which we are
interested. Thus this seemed an appropriate project in light of the hopes of a
headstone placement for our progenitor (common ancestor) Thomas Tenney in 2009.
HOWEVER! As of the end of March—with only three months left in the 2007-08
fiscal year—we have only received $95 for this year’s Special Project. Please
consider a donation to this year’s project—lets double the gift with the
opportunity of the TFA $ for $ match.
